Baked fettuccine with beef

Fettuccine is among my personal favorites when it comes to make pasta at home. For the recipe you can use your choice of pasta sauce from the supermarkets or if you have your own special sauce you can use that. I had utilized a special herbed tomato sauce for mine. Here is a tip, after blanching fettuccine mix it with 1 tbsp of butter instead of rinsing with cold water. This will make the fettuccine smoother after cooking.

Ingredients

  • 150g minced beef
  • 1/2 Onion chopped
  • 100g fettuccine
  • 1 cup pasta sauce
  • 80g grated cheese
  • 2tsp chopped garlic
  • salt for taste

Marinade

  • 1tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1tsp cornflour

Method

1 Put the fettuccine in boiling water. Add 1/2 tsp of salt. cook for 8 minutes and set aside.

2 Marinate minced beef for a while.

3 Heat 1 tbsp of oil. Stir fry onions untill golden brown. Add minced beef and chopped garlic. Sir fry for a while. Add the pasta sauce and cook untill the beef is done.

4 Spread the butter on a baking tray. Place fettuccine, beef and cheese in order. Bake in a pre-heat oven at 180°C for about 15 to 20 minutes untill the cheese become golden brown and Serve.

Is cornflour the same as corn starch?

  26. nora | August 30, 2009 at 7:31 pm | Reply

hello jessica! yes corn flour and cornstarch are just the same! its just the starch of the corn (maiz) grains! instead of the cornflour you can use the normal flour for the marinade!

Ah! My mom uses olive oil, but butter sound really good too! LOVE the melted cheese on top…I really think that is the best part! :-)

fettuccine is the perfect noodle to use in a dish like this. i LOVE a baked pasta concoction, especially when there’s ample cheese involved. :)
