Pita Bread Salmon Sandwich

If your looking for a healthy and filling breakfast which would keep you going till noon, pita bread sandwiches are just for you.Pita bread is really versatile you can split the bread horizontally and add your favorite fillings and make a easy sandwich.Pita breads are available in whole-grain and flour versions.I would suggest the whole-grain variety because of the health benefits.Pita can be got from most natural food or grocery stores and it can kept for about a week but if you want to bake the bread yourself i have found a very descriptive article here . For the fillings I have used salmon steaks, salmon is always a favorite among fish lovers and enjoyed even by those who are not always fond of fish. Its a good idea to soak the defrosted salmon in slightly salted water and then to wipe dry before cooking.

Ingredients

  • 2 pita breads
  • 1 salmon steak
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 cucumber
  • 4tbsp mayonnaise
  • salt, pepper and some dill for taste

Method

1 Rinse the salmon steaks, thaw and pat dry with a paper towel. Remove any leftover bones or skin and steam upto 8 to 10 minutes or untill done.

2 Now place the steaks in a bowl and the seasoning and mix it well with the mayonnaise then refrigerate and set aside.

3 Cut the pita bread into half, and slice the tomatoes and cucumber into thin slices

4 Apply the salmon paste in the pita bread and arrange the tomatoes and cucumbers inside the bread along with the dill and serve.
